Best bars in Prague

Introduction

Ok, so you have one weekend in Prague and are completely overwhelmed with the amount of bars to choose from and want to make sure you go to the best bars in Prague, Well don’t stress!! I have done all the hard work for you so by the time you get there you will not be aimlessly walking around trying to stumble on somewhere to drink. And the best part ALL the bars on the list are within walking distance of each other, and they really are the best bars in Prague!

Pro Tip – Line your stomach with some cheap and delicious Czech food and start the pub crawl around early afternoon

Now lets start our bar crawl of the best bars in Prague

Terasa U Prince

Staroměstské náměstí 29 110 00 Praha 1 – Staré město

What a perfect place to Start. Right in the heart of the Prague old town square. Enter through the Black Angel’s bar (we will be coming back to this one dont you worry – another one of the best bars in Prague) and ask to sit outside. You will be given the choice of the square or the terrace……go for the terrace!

The host will lead you to a lift and ask you to select the fourth floor. Here you will see a beautiful door that looks as though it leads to nowhere. I was slightly worried I was going to end up walking into some staff quarters when I approached but I bravely opened the door to find a whole other bar on the roof on the hotel!!! It has the most amazing views across the square and the best part….avoid all the tourists and get there just before the hour for the best views of the Astronomical clock show.

Cocktails are delicious and very reasonably priced, so snuggle up under one of the blankets provided and take in the sites of the Gothic buildings whilst sipping on a refreshing drink. They even have a great place to get that all important selfie!!!

BED Lounge

Dlouhá 2 Praha

Just across the Square you will find the next bar on the list of best bars in Prague, and I have to say this is my favourite daytime drinking spot for a real chilled out vibe.

It is a bar that is literally full of beds!!! Snuggle in and get comfy whilst listening to the chart tunes playing on the TV. They have a very wide selection of shisha if that’s your thing too. I would recommend the mango flavour.

Also they have the best Espresso martinis and that really should be what you are drinking there as it is sooooo easy to become so chilled you drift of for a disco nap.

I would also suggest going to this bar early because after too many drinks you risk a disco nap turning into a full blown sleep. That’s going to ruin your tour of the best bars in Prague for sure!

Best Bars In Prague

Aloha Cocktail Bar & Music Club

Praha 1 Dusni 11 110 00 Prague

Just round the corner from BED you will find Aloha. We actually stumbled across this one by accident as we were waiting for Hangar bar to open which is just next door.

Aloha has a Polynesian vibe and serves food as well as drinks. It also has a club downstairs ( we were soon to discover that this is a common theme for Prague and I love it!!!) .

This bar has a chilled out vibe and is great for a bit of downtime as the afternoon draws into evening. If you’re feeling a bit more lively hang around for the show too. we didn’t eat here but the food did look first class so I would suggest trying some of the dishes they have on offer if you’re peckish.

Hangar Bar Praha

Dušní 9 Prague

Immediately next door to Aloha you will find Hangar bar. This bar takes you right back to the PAN AM Airways era (I knew it from the film catch me if you can).

You will be greeted by flight attendants and captains and shown to your seat. Once seated you will receive your boarding pass with a list of cocktail options.

Now I am going to be honest, by this point the espresso martinis had started to take effect and I don’t actually remember what I ordered in here but the list of cocktails was extensive and it was a great atmosphere. You really felt like you had be transported to 1960’s America.

Best Bars In Prague

Cafe 80’s

V Kolkovně 6, Praha 1 110 00 Prague

Ahhh man…this bar!!!! A short walk from Hangar you will come across Café 80’s. I LOVED this bar purely because of the atmosphere and nostalgic décor.

Start with a drink in the upstairs bar then make your way down stairs to the club complete with light up dance floor. Playing the best 80’s and 90’s songs we found ourselves in the middle of a Cotton Eyed Joe dance off and I have not laughed so hard in a long time.

The vibe and atmosphere here is one of the best in Prague. A pure party bar!!

Best Bars In Prague

Black Angel’s Bar

Staromestske namesti 460/29 110 00 Prague

I told you we would be back! this is one of the most famous bars in Prague and as with Teresa U Prince its in the heart of Prague (remember I said they are both in the same hotel).

Black Angel’s gets pretty busy but we were lucky to bag a good spot without needing to pre-book. The one rule they have here is no photos! Which I think is fair enough as it keeps the place exclusive and exciting.

You will enter via the stairs and down into a cave like cellar where a host will be ready to take your order. These guys are true pros and I was fascinated with watching them make all the weird and wonderful drinks. They certainly know what they are doing.

Our host was brilliant. Had us laughing throughout and couldn’t have been more accommodating. Expect drinks prices to be slightly higher here due to the location and how bloody good they are!

Best Bars In Prague

Gastrobar 1401 Praha

11000 Prague

This bar is just round the corner from the main square, hidden away. We actually stumbled across this one on the way to Anonymous Bar and loved it so much we went back the next night.

If you like rock and indie music this one is for you. Its a green lit dive bar and does exactly what it says on the tin. I had the best time here listening to the live music and making friends and even got asked to get up and sing. Something I am pretty happy I cant remember doing!!

They have a good selection of beer and you can also opt for the taster beer menu to try a bit of everything.

You will see when you walk in that the place is covered floor to ceiling in stickers from previous guests. (Look hard enough and you may come across mine). Ask behind the bar for a sticker and a pen and make your mark in the coolest bar in Prague.

So you have made it this far on my list of the best bars in Prague, now the fun really starts!

AnonymouS Bar

Michalska 432/12 110 00 Prague

Ok, so let me tell you, I was not ready for what was in store when we arrived here!

Its just round the corner from Gastrobar but not the easiest bar to find as the name suggests. We were confused for a while about where it could be but the risky move to go through a random door paid off. the door is a big and brown and looks like the entrance to an office block. If you’re not sure then take a look at the plaques on the wall and that should give it away.

One thing I would suggest is to pre book as we couldn’t get a table on the first night and we got there early!

So you made it inside and now the fun really starts.

You are shown to your table and if you want to unlock the secret black light menu then you need to order the first drink on the standard menu. Your host will then sneakily show you the hidden menu but you don’t get long to look!

Our host Jacob made this the most memorable part of the trip (I say that with irony as I don’t remember any of the rest of the night after leaving this bar!). We had the most scrummy cocktail but I wont give it away as then you will know what secret drinks to order before you get there ;).

Jacob had us laughing the whole time, took pictures of us wearing masks, gave us a polaroid to take away and at one point was pouring drinks straight into my mouth from the bottle. There was also a host making cocktails by setting them on fire and tipping them from cup to cup in front of us.

This bar ruined me, in the best kind of way! You HAVE to check it out.

Karlovy Lázně

Prague

And now the pièce de résistance, the big Daddy of all Prague night life!!! Of all the very best bars in Prague this one tops the list”

This is 5 clubs in one, Its insane!

Fancy having your drinks made by robots, come visit the robot room.

Want to drink in an Ice bar, you can here!

Dance underneath a lit up LED celling, this is the place

or boogie the night away to 70’s bangers on a light up dance floor. You got it!

This place has it all! It is the biggest club in Europe and I would also say one of the most fun! You can spend hours going from room to room, completely losing track of time and no doubt your dignity too!

We got chatting away to so many people in here and danced the night away with them. This is the perfect ending to the perfect Praha Pub crawl! And the best bit….you have spent the night experiencing some of the best bars in Prague!!
